If You Knew 

I believe the visiting Preacher’s name was Nick Champlain.  Bev and I were visiting the Church on the Rock in New Haven, Connecticut.  His subject was, 'If We Knew' or 'If You Knew'.  His sermon text was: John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her “If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water”.  If we really knew who Jesus is and what he has done for us, we would but ask him.  Many keep trying to do things for God, when he has already done it all.  He is seeking worshippers in spirit and in truth.

The song came to me during the message and was almost finished before we arrived at home only a mile or two away.  I sent a copy to brother Champlain but never learned if he received it.

The song is sung as if Jesus himself were singing it.  I have always been amazed at the thought of the Lord singing and what his voice sounded like.
